"As Louise sniffles from one catastrophe to the next, young readers (who may have spring allergies or colds of their own) feel for her, while eagerly anticipating the next amusing crisis.
Irene Breznak tells the tale with just the right amount of rhyme and repetition (and just the right ending), while Janet Pedersen's bright and breezy illustrations accentuate the humor. Young Louise is a winner, sneezy or not." (Hilary Williamson)

"This cute little book by Irene Breznak will appeal to children (especially sneezy ones) with its rhythmic and bouncy text. Janet Pedersen's cartoon-like watercolor and pen drawings are funny and adorable."

"The repetitive text will keep younger children knowing what is coming next, the colorful illustrations will keep them interested. And the lesson of covering your mouth when you sneeze? That's a bonus to a fun little story that you'll probably pull out again at the start of cold and flu season each year"

". . . you and your children will love 'Sneezy Louise'. Local author Irene Breznak has achooed onto the scene with this wonderful picture book about a little girl, Louise, who is having the sneeziest day. As if having the sneeziest day wasn't bad enough, she had the unappreciated habit of forgetting to cover her mouth during sneezes, and is constantly and consistently reminded 'Geez Louise! COVER YOUR MOUTH PLEASE'!" (Donna Falcone)

SNEEZY LOUISE
Breznak, Irene
SNEEZY LOUISE
Illus. by Janet Pedersen
Breznak captures the fidgety fractiousness of the coming-down-with-a-cold child, for whom nothing seems to be going right. With droopy lids and a rubbed-raw nose, there is no mistaking Louise’s misery. Pedersen’s loose lines and splashy watercolors blow powerful ACHOOs across the pages (along with everything else that is caught in the draft). Children may have more fun acting out the loud, boisterous sound effects than with hygienic propriety, but the rhyming refrain—and gentle lesson in manners—is sure to sink in. A contagious debut. (Picture book. 3-6)
